Doesn't necessarily mean there'll be GW2 info, but Anet will be there and I'm not sure what else they would talk about.

Maybe you live in a perfect world full of flowers and tweety birds where all people live in peace, so I say to you: welcome to the real world ; however, seriously, if they promised you a new expansion a month, would you believed them? It's not so easy to respect development timing, so these assertions have to be taken carefully.

I am very disappointed at current support of GW, and now they are practically selling everything on in game store, and prices are dropping on retail boxes. Every friend that has asked me about GW I answer them to wait for GW2 since GW is slowly dieing.

Support of an older game doesn't reflect on the price much. Unless a game has a very small release of copies, the price lowers over time (especially sports games). Welcome to gaming.

How selfish can you people be? Yes they advertised a new campaign every 6 months and then withdrew that while realizing their mistake. Anet wanted to change so much in GW they decide to make a new game for their undeserving fans.
The Anet team has worked tirelessly since the release of prophecies and all the current players can do is complain about how they are not given everything and that they need to know everything about the enigma wrapped in an illusion that is GW2. Be patient.
For the record: Thank you Anet for everything up until now i could wait until the end of time for GW2. So long as you guys/girls are pouring your life into this game i could care less what you do with GW1(hides from nerfbat).
Tip to all: fill your HoM and shut up.

We don't want a new game. We don't want this new WoW knockoff of theirs with its high level caps, persistent areas, lack of full AI parties, simplification of skills, multiple playable races, a z-axis, etc.
We were happy with Guild Wars as Guild Wars. That was enough, it was fine, it was perfect. They could just keep making campaigns. We'd keep buying them and playing them. ArenaNet gets money, we get good content, everyone's happy.
Instead they took something that wasn't broken... and tried to fix it. And from what we can tell... seems like they're going to break it.

Who do you mean by we? Look around forums (not only guru), listen to what people are saying in game. Guild Wars has gone downhill over the years. People are bitching left and right. Pretty sure mane people do want a new game.
They took something that wasn't broken, broke it, realized they couldn't fix it, so they're giving us something completely new and different. I'd much rather get GW2 than other campaigns that just bring more content that gets old quite fast, and more skills to further break the game (PvE and PvP). A fresh start is what Guild Wars needs. And honestly, I could care less how long it takes. D3, MW2, SC2 and other very promising looking releases will keep me (and many others) busy until the game is released.

No, it WAS broken, the game engine was too limited to allow what they wanted to do

So... you complain about the game dying/bleeding players, but don't recommend other people buy the game to prevent the loss of players.
Wait... what?

Did I miss the coup? I guess you have appointed yourself leader of all GW players. Well I believe you are wrong as the 2 posters above me have stated, I think a majority of players do want GW2 and are willing to wait the time it takes to produce a good game.

A.Net is doing it wrong. Not telling us a thing but "More info will come till the end of the year" isn't "more contact with the playerbase". Why must we speculate and wonder whether there'll be an update or not. They can't keep with the expectations? they can come here and tell us that. If there will be an update, than why won't they just tell us?
A.Net CR is just terrible, and always been terrible...

Something tells me that the nature of this update will be revealed along with GW2 info. If they are going to release info this year anyway, why not make a GW1 update that links with GW2 in some sort of fasion.
No i'm not talking about the HoM link, that'll have to wait until release.

there is actually no reason ANet should update gW1, they will, but theres no reason why they should and certainly no reason any of us deserve it

Wait, let me get this straight, do we, the community, have to DESERVE the rights to recieve information about a sequel announced to a game we ALL bought 3 years ago (most of us anyways), and played during that time?
I thought that was called good MARKETING instead. Alot of people already left GW for what it is (A dead grind game, I'm sorry, it is, get over it), and due to the lack of information of GW2, which at this time can STILL be classified as vaporware (WHOOPS I SAID IT) won't even bother comming back for GW2.
It's only in Anet's benefit to say:
"This is what we're doing right now [Insert shit]"
Bottom line still is that Anet announced GW2 WAY TO EARLY, and ever since then have pretty much (For what, 1-1.5 years now?) given no information whatsoever.
What makes U believe we NEED TO DESERVE this information? By buying Guild Wars one, do we not already show interest in both Anet and the concept of Guild Wars?
If anything, it only seems fair that on Anet's part, they start giving us more information on WHAT THE GAME WILL BE LIKE. Alot of people have the hunch it will be a WoW-copy, albeit with the original GW concept, whereas others believe it will blow the MMO scene away. (Like GW did)
Patience is a virtue, but with 1.5 years of waiting under our belts, aswell as nearly NO content releases in Guild Wars, I do think more and more people are leaving the scene every day/week with the mindset of: "Fcuk it, I'm not gonna wait any longer for a game which I might or might not like, I'll just go play Aion (Insert other game if you want) instead."
And then by the time GW2 comes out, those people will already have been rooted into the other games, they won't bother buying GW2.
Again, not saying they will loose ALL their customers, just saying that it's doing them no good giving us the silence treatment...
